About the AYSC

The Annual Young Scientists’ Conference (AYSC) is a flagship initiative of the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf) that promotes youth participation in science, technology and innovation. Established in 2010, the conference brings together outstanding early-career researchers from universities, research councils and institutions across South Africa and the African continent to present their research, exchange ideas and build interdisciplinary networks.

The AYSC provides a dynamic platform for emerging scientists to engage with pressing societal challenges and explore the role of science in shaping sustainable futures. Through plenary sessions, research presentations, workshops and roundtable discussions, participants share knowledge, develop new skills and connect with peers and established experts.

By fostering collaboration, mentorship and innovative thinking, the AYSC contributes to strengthening Africa’s scientific community and supporting the next generation of scientific leaders.
